After an exhilarating round one of the Qualcomm Design in India Challenge 2016, we are excited to announce the second chapter with the ‘Qualcomm Design in India Challenge – II’ or QDIC - II. The challenge is launched as part of expansion of our design initiatives in India to be called henceforth, Qualcomm Design in India Program (QDIP) that aims to build a core design technological and innovation hub in India.
In our unrelenting commitment to PM Narendra Modi’s vision of transforming India into a digitally empowered society, ‘The Qualcomm Design in India Challenge – II’ will extend an opportunity to twenty startups in two incubation cycles, with a primary focus in the domains of Smart Infrastructure, Biometric Devices, Payment Terminals, Agricultural Technology, Medical Technology and Rural IoT. The first cycle will run from Jan – August 2017 and the second cycle will run from July – December 2017. More details of the challenge are enclosed in the timeline.
The challenge will offer a total of over USD 400K in prize money. The companies will have access to the state-of-the-art Qualcomm Innovation Lab in Bengaluru and Hyderabad along with engineering and technical support to help bring their products to life.
We are looking for unique product ideas that demonstrate high levels of creativity, differentiation and innovation. From all submissions, up to six semi-finalists will be chosen to receive up to $10,000 each in funding to proceed to the prototyping phase for their product ideas, and will get access to the Qualcomm® Innovation Lab. From these semi-finalists, upto two winners will be chosen to receive up to $75,000 each as recognition and encouragement for future efforts.
The Qualcomm Design in India II launches on January 17, 2017 and will extend in two cycles.
